JSU is the Norwegian name on the student council at the University of Oslo Faculty of Law.
The Student council consists of nine members. We are elected at the general student assembly or ‘allmøte’ , held once every term, where all law students can meet, debate and cast their vote.
Under the University Act of 2005 we have at least one member with full voting rights on almost all governing bodies of the faculty, such as the Faculty board, the Study Progamme Councils (they decide the curriculum and syllaus) , the Council for Gender Equality, the Council for Academic Research, and many more.
Among our main responsibilities are the students well-being and study situation. JSU have a supervisiory function and constantly monitors the students everyday situation. The matters of highest priority are exams, quality of tutoring and quality of the premises where the lessons are given, study environment and welfare, the reading hall situation and the canteen.
We have taken upon ourselves a responsibility to give students information on important matters concerning their study situation. This is done through our home page www.jsu.no, yellow posters on the faculty premises and our newsletter “Pamphletten”, handed out at the reading halls.
We have a front desk where we offer support and information, as well as different compendia at reasonable prices. Its also the place for paying for and register your book locker and designated reading desk. Our front desk is situated at the ground floor in the University's Western building (Domus Academica).
If you have questions, comments or other issues you would like to share with us, do not hesitate to send us an e-mail or adress us at our front desk.
Our e-mail adress is utvalget@jsu.no. All inquiries are confidential, and no matter is to small.
